2015 NHL DRAFT: BLACKHAWKS BUILD FROM WITHIN
Winning their third Stanley Cup in six seasons, the Chicago Blackhawks have built a perennial power in the NHL. A large part of that success can be attributed to the organization’s willingness to build from within, through the NHL Entry Draft.
Beginning Friday, the Draft Class of 2015 will hope to hear their names called off to take the stage and continue their hockey careers, with the ultimate goal of playing in the NHL one day. A majority of those selected in the 2015 NHL Draft will begin their professional career in the American Hockey League before fulfilling their dream of playing at the top level.
This past season, 67% of the players to appear in the lineup for the Rockford IceHogs were drafted with 43% coming through the Blackhawks as the organization’s draft choices. In the IceHogs eight seasons as the top affiliate for the Blackhawks, eight of Chicago’s first round selections have played in Rockford.
