WEEK 5 REPORT: HOGS DROP 2, 3-GAME WEEK ON TAP

The Rockford IceHogs dropped each of their two games last week, suffering a 3-2 loss at Cleveland on Oct. 31 and 3-1 defeat at Milwaukee on Nov. 3...Rockford was previously unbeaten in its first three road games prior to falling at the Monsters on Tuesday...Further, the pair of defeats marks just the first time this season the IceHogs have lost back-to-back games through 11 total contests this year...The Hogs now enter this week’s action with an overall record of 7-4-0-0 and remain ranked first in the Central Division in both points (14) and win percentage (.636).
Forward Tomas Jurco scored the game-tying goal in the second period at Cleveland in the IceHogs’ eventual 3-2 loss on Oct. 31...Jurco began the season with points in just two of his first five games, but following last Tuesday’s effort, has now registered at least one point in four of his last six games...The winger has skated to a team-best +3 rating over that span while posting 3g-2a-5pts in those six games.
The IceHogs scored a season-high four power-play goals (4-for-7 on the PP) on Oct. 28 vs. Grand Rapids before failing to convert on the man-advantage in last week’s contests against Cleveland and Milwaukee...Rockford has gone a combined 0-for-10 on the power play during that two-game drought, including 0-for-3 at the Monsters and 0-for-7 at the Admirals.
Defenseman Erik Gustafsson tallied an assist in each of the IceHogs’ two games last week and capped the pair of contests with a +2 plus/minus rating...Gustafsson has now recorded points in a season-high four straight games since Oct. 27, totaling 1g-4a-5pts during his point streak...Overall, the Rockford blueliner has registered at least one point in eight of his first 11 games in the 2017-18 season, and totaled 3g-7a-10pts on the year...Gustafsson enters the week ranked third among league defenseman in points and tied for second among AHL blueliners in assists.
Rockford totaled 18 penalty minutes through last week’s games and has now accumulated just 126 total minutes in the box through 11 games this season...That total is good for the fifth-fewest PIM in the AHL thus far in 2017-18, and ranks behind only Ontario (117 PIM), Tucson (110 PIM), Bakersfield (105 PIM) and Chicago (95 PIM).
BUD LIGHT MONTHLY MONDAY HOG TALK AT VINTAGE 501
Bud Light Hog Talk returns to Vintage 501 TONIGHT (Monday, Nov. 6) from 6-7 p.m. Vintage 501 is located in downtown Rockford at 501 E. State St. Fans can join broadcasters Mike Peck and Brittany Toolis from 6-7 p.m. on the first Monday of every month throughout the season as the duo chats with IceHogs players, coaches and front office members. Thursday, Nov. 9: The IceHogs travel to Iowa for a morning matchup against the Wild at 10:30 a.m. The Hogs have won each of their first two games against Iowa this season and are outscoring the Wild 9-5.
Friday, Nov. 10: The Rockford IceHogs host the San Antonio Rampage on Pucks & Paws Night. Fans are invited to bring their dogs to the BMO for this special occasion, and the first 1,500 through the doors will receive a plush Otis dog toy, courtesy of Riverside Dental. Saturday, Nov. 11: Rockford caps a three-games-in-three-days series with a showdown against the division-rival Milwaukee Admirals. Puck drop is 6 p.m. and the Hogs are seeking a rebound victory after dropping each of the last two meetings with the Ads.
