Rockford, Ill. - In conjunction with Hockey Canada, the Rockford IceHogs announced that forward Daniel Paille has been selected to represent Team Canada at the 2015 Spengler Cup in Switzerland.

The Spengler Cup, which runs from Dec. 26 to Dec. 31, has been held annually since 1923 and is the oldest professional international hockey tournament in the world. Paille will join Team Canada for their opening game against Avtomobilist Yekaterinber on Dec. 26, making him unavailable for at least the IceHogs first three games after the holiday break.

Paille becomes the third IceHogs skater to be invited to the tournament after former Hogs goaltender Wade Flaherty and forward Brett McLean each made an appearance.

Paille, 31, has recorded one goal and two assists in 25 games for Rockford this season. The Welland, Ontario native has appeared in 570 career NHL games with the Boston Bruins and Buffalo Sabres, totaling 172 points (85g-87a). He captured the Stanley Cup as a member of the Bruins in 2011 and advanced to the Stanley Cup Final in 2013 before Boston fell to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Next Home Game: Saturday, Dec. 26 vs. Milwaukee Admirals at 7 p.m. The IceHogs welcome the Admirals back to the BMO Harris Bank Center after four nights off for the holiday break.
