ICEHOGS IN THE GIVING SPIRIT

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, proud members of the American Hockey League and primary affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, distributed over 1,400 stuffed animals to more than 15 Rockford area charities and hospitals over the last two weeks.

IceHogs players, Hammy and front office staff visited the following places to distribute donations from the annual Teddy Bear toss on Dec. 5:

Rockford Police Chaplin, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Wave/Remedies, Rockford Rescue Mission, Mother House Crisis Nursery, Youth Services Network, Meld, Children’s Learning Center, Toys for Tots, SwedishAmerican Medical Center, OSF Saint Anthony Foundation, Catholic Charities Diocese of Rockford and St. Elizabeth Center.

IceHogs defensemen Mike Brennan, David Phillips and Jonathan Carlsson spent time at the Children’s Learning Center meeting with the kids, handing out stuffed animals and reading to them on Tuesday.

Simon Danis-Pepin, Brian Connelly, Matt Keith, Akim Aliu and Richard Petiot stopped in to visit children at SwedishAmerican Medical Center today.

Goaltender Corey Crawford and Hammy teamed up to pass out teddy bears and sign autographs at the Mother House Crisis Nursery on Dec. 10, 2009.

Rockford fans graciously threw 1,457 stuffed animals on to the ice following Daryl Boyle’s first period goal in the Hogs 4-2 win over Lake Erie during the annual Teddy Bear Toss Night on Dec. 5, 2009.

This marks the tenth year that the IceHogs have collected teddy bears at a game and delivered them to non-profit organizations throughout the area.

Next Home Game: Friday, Dec. 18 vs. Chicago Wolves: The game starts at 7:05 p.m. Rockford takes on rivals Chicago at the Rockford MetroCentre for the final time in more than three months. The first 2,500 fans will pick up a Christmas Stocking courtesy of the Rockford Park District and WXRX.
