Week 22 Recap:
February ended with a tough shootout loss, but the Rockford IceHogs bounced back to start the month of March with two consecutive victories. The Hogs now have points in six straight contests, posting a 5-0-0-1 record. On Wednesday, Rockford came away with one point but Abbotsford claimed the win after seven rounds of a shootout. In Milwaukee, Carter Hutton turned away 44 Admirals’ shots and Brandon Pirri notched three points (1g-2a) as the IceHogs stole a 3-1 win on Friday. Then, Peter LeBlanc and Ben Youds tallied in the third period on Saturday to lift Rockford over Peoria 2-1. The IceHogs play a home-and-home series against Milwaukee in Week 23.

Carter Hutton kept the IceHogs on the winning track as he helped the team earn points in all three games (2-0-0-1) and ran his point streak to six straight games (5-0-0-1). On Wednesday, Hutton made 35 saves in a 3-2 shootout loss to Abbotsford at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The 26-year-old then backstopped the IceHogs to a 3-1 win in Milwaukee on Friday night, making 44 saves against the Admirals. On Saturday, Hutton helped Rockford to their fifth come-from-behind victory on the road since Jan. 8, making 24 saves in a 2-1 win at Peoria. On the week, the Thunder Bay, Ontario native finished with a .963 save percentage and a 1.30 goals against average.

Saturday, March 10 at Milwaukee Admirals. It’s the eighth of 12 meetings between the Midwest Division rivals and the first of a home-and-home series between the clubs. Game time is 7 p.m. Rockford is 5-1-0-1 versus Milwaukee this season. In four of those wins, the IceHogs only gave up one goal to the Admirals.
Sunday, March 11 vs. Milwaukee Admirals. The 13th annual IceHogs jersey auction is Sunday night as Rockford takes on the Admirals. Puck drop is at 5:05 p.m. This year’s theme is “Rock Vegas” and the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive a deck of IceHogs poker cards sponsored by Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall. There will be a live auction on the ice after the game for fans to win the special “Rock Vegas” jerseys worn by the IceHogs. The band “Dirty Fishnet Stockings” will perform before, during and after the game.

Bud Light Hog Talk makes its weekly appearance tonight at Granite City Food and Brewery. Stephen Nelson hosts IceHogs video coach Matt Prefontaine, forward Matt Fornataro and goaltender Carter Hutton. Granite City is located at 7140 Harrison Ave. next to CherryVale Mall. Fans can join Mike Peck or Stephen Nelson from 6-7 p.m. most Mondays as they chat with IceHogs skaters and coaches. Stop by to take advantage of food and Bud Light specials.
