ROCKFORD ROLLS RAMPAGE 5-2 TO EXTEND STREAK

Domish nets first career AHL marker in Hogs win

San Antonio, Tex.- Some unlikely goal scorers helped vault the Rockford IceHogs to a 5-2 win against the San Antonio Rampage at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. The win extended Rockford’s season high unbeaten streak to 11-straight games (8-0-0-3).

Defenseman Ryan Stokes put Rockford up 1-0 after getting a rare shift at forward. Stokes picked up a cross-ice feed from winger Kris Versteeg, and Stokes wristed his second goal of the season past David LeNeveu at 15:44.

In the second frame, Rockford pushed their advantage to 2-0 with a power-play snipe from Troy Brouwer. Brouwer snapped a Bryan Bickell feed over the shoulder of LeNeveu for his AHL leading 13th goal on the power play and team leading 14th marker overall. Center Martin St. Pierre also helped on the goal.

Rockford gave the Rampage seven power-play opportunities in the second period and San Antonio took advantage of one of them. Winger Enver Lisin blew his 11th lamp lighter of the campaign past Corey Crawford at 14:44 to make it 2-1 at the second intermission.

Rockford put the game away in the third period with three goals. Winger Mike Blunden made it 3-1 when he clanked his ninth goal of the season off the inside of the post on a power play at 4:09. The Rampage made it a 3-2 contest , however, with another power-play tally. This time it was DiSalvatore batting in his sixth goal of the year at 11:36.

But the IceHogs tallied twice more to make it 5-2. Winger Kris Versteeg potted an unassisted short-handed goal moments after the Rampage’s Joey Tenute hit the post. Versteeg picked up the rebound, skated end-to-end and beat LeNeveu to make it 4-2.

Defenseman Jerramie Domish then finished off the Rampage when he buried his first career AHL goal. Domish picked up a point pass from Adam Hobson and slapped in his first marker of the season at 16:33.

Rockford was outshot by the Rampage 33-27 and went 2-for-7 on the power play. With his assist, St. Pierre extended his point to nine-straight games, tying an IceHogs season high.
