Hogs finish week of home games with 1-3 record

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs were handed their first shutout Saturday by the Lake Erie Monsters by a score of 2-0 at the Rockford MetroCentre.

Both goalies had a strong game. Unfortunately Tyler Weiman's night was a little bit better. The Monster's netminder turned away 33 shots, while Rockford's Corey Crawford stopped 29 of the 31 pucks that were thrown at him.

The Monsters went on the board after just 22 second of the second period. Eric Healey broke the stalemate with a shot that bounced off of the post, then Crawford's pad and in to make the score 1-0. Jamie Lundmark and David Jones had the assists.

Lundmark added an insurance marker at 18:22 in the third with helpers from Healey and Jeff Jillson.

The Hogs had five power play opportunities while the Monsters did not convert on either of their power plays.

Winger Petri Kontiola was in Rockford’s line-up tonight after getting re-assigned from the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. Troy Brouwer became the 12th IceHogs to get called up to the big club. It was his first re-call of the season.

Tonight's game was the AHL Game of the Week and will be shown nationally on tape delay on the NHL Network at 6 p.m. Thursday. Check with your cable or satellite providers for details.

Next Home Game:
Friday, Jan. 11 vs. Toronto Marlies. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Hogs and Marlies meet for the second and final time this season and first at the MetroCentre in a battle of two of the top teams in the AHL. The first 1,000 fans 21-and older will receive an IceHogs Jersey Koozie courtesy of Bud Light.
