ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Chicago Blackhawks today announced they have recalled forward Andreas Martinsen from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.
Martinsen, 27, has skated in 61 games with the IceHogs in 2017-18, collecting 26 points (12g, 14a) and 54 penalty minutes in his first season with the team. He ranks tied for third on the team in scoring, is first among Rockford forwards in PIMs and shares third among team forwards with a +7 rating thus far this season. Martinsen recently notched his third multi-point effort of the campaign with a pair of goals against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on March 3, and departs Rockford having skated even-or-better in each of his last seven contests since that multi-goal game (+7 over that stretch).
The Bærum, Norway native originally made his North American professional debut with the San Antonio Rampage during the 2015-16 season, before spending the majority of the campaign at the NHL level with the Colorado Avalanche. Martinsen made his NHL debut that year on Nov. 10, 2015 at Philadelphia and scored his first NHL goal six games later on Nov. 21 at Washington. He then spent the entirety of the 2016-17 season at the NHL level with Avalanche and Montreal Canadians.
Overall, Martinsen has combined for 18 points (7g, 11a) and 79 PIMs in 119 career NHL games between Colorado (2015-17) and Montreal (2016-17), and 28 points (13g, 15a) and 62 PIMs in 70 career AHL contests with San Antonio (2015-16) and Rockford (2017-18).
Next Home Game: Friday, March 23 | Rockford vs. Milwaukee
The IceHogs host the Milwaukee Admirals at 7 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Friday’s contest is Country Night with a live musical performance from local country band, “StateLine,” who will perform both pre and postgame on Friday. The first 2,500 fans in attendance can also complete their “Our Town, Our Team” bobblehead series with a free bobblehead of current Green Bay Packers defensive end and Rockford native, Dean Lowry.
