Week 6 Recap:
Week 6 started with a rough matinee game at the Grand Rapids Griffins when the IceHogs allowed six goals in the first two periods. The loss marked the fourth straight without a point in the standings for the IceHogs and the longest losing streak of the season. Rockford returned to the BMO Harris Bank Center for a set of two games in two nights against the Iowa Wild. The first game between the teams got the IceHogs back in the win column and was just the second time this season that the IceHogs scored first and held the lead the rest of the way. Rockford ended up splitting the Wild weekend series after dropping the decision in a 5-2 loss where special teams was the key for Iowa and the Achilles’ heel of Rockford. After going 1-2-0-0 on the week, the IceHogs now sit at 8-7-1-0 and second in the Midwest Division.

Bacon Bits:
-Defenseman Bobby Shea recorded his first AHL goal in Rockford’s 3-1 win on Friday night
-For the first time in seven games, and first time on home ice, the IceHogs carried a lead into the third period on Friday before eventually earning the win over Iowa
-With their win on Friday, the IceHogs snapped a season long four-game losing streak
-Forward Brad Winchester saw his two-game goal scoring streak come to an end on Saturday
-The IceHogs allowed a season-high four power play goals on Saturday against Iowa
-The Hogs penalty kill unit has given up a power play goal in each of the last three contests, dropping to 27th in the AHL with a kill rate of 77.0% overall
-Rockford’s power play unit was only able to muster one goal on a season-high seven chances on the man advantage, including three times on a 5-on-3 power play
-However, the IceHogs show a power play marker in six of their last seven contests
-On Saturday, Rockford was held without a third period tally for the first time in 12 tilts and just the third time on the campaign
-The IceHogs and Wild combined for a season-high 72 penalty minutes in Saturday’s rematch at the BMO
-Rockford’s 32 PIMs on Saturday were also a season-high
-Defenseman Jared Nightingale played in his 450th professional game on Saturday at the BMO Harris Bank Center

Hot Hog: Week 6
Brad Winchester, Left Wing
Winger Brad Winchester registered a pair of goals in back-to-back contests for the IceHogs during Week 6. The Madison, Wisconsin native opened the week with his third goal of the season on Wednesday in Grand Rapids. Then, on Friday the veteran chipped in the eventual game winner in Rockford’s 3-1 victory over Iowa, his first game-winning tally of the season. Looking to match Mark McNeill’s season long goal scoring streak (3 games) for the IceHogs, Winchester was held off the board on Saturday as the Hogs dropped a 5-2 contest at home to the Wild.

Friday, Nov. 15 at Grand Rapids: Game time is 6 p.m. Rockford heads back to the Van Andel Arena to take on the Grand Rapids Griffins for the fourth time this season. The IceHogs are 1-2-0-0 against Grand Rapids this year.

Saturday, Nov. 16 vs. San Antonio: Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. The IceHogs take on the Rampage at the BMO Harris Bank Center to finish up their two-game, season series against San Antonio. The first 2,500 fans to the BMO will receive an IceHogs baseball hat courtesy of Pepsi.
