Hildebrand Jake MSU

Rockford, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs announced today that they have agreed to terms with goaltender Jake Hildebrand on a one-year AHL contract.

Hildebrand, 22, completed a four-year collegiate career at Michigan State University last season, posting a career record of 45-70-14 with a 2.54 GAA and .921 save percentage. He was named the Team MVP for each of his four seasons (2012-16) with the Spartans, becoming the first four-time Team MVP in Michigan State hockey history. Hildebrand played in every game for the past two campaigns, and in 2015-16 he recorded 1,046 saves – the fifth most in MSU history.

Along with his team accolades, Hildebrand was named the Big Ten Player of the Year and Goalie of the Year in 2014-15 when he tied for the most shutouts in the nation (6) and finished with a 2.18 GAA and .930 save percentage. He also earned First-Team All-American and Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2014-15.

A native of Butler, Penn., Hildebrand joined the Allen Americans in time for their run to the ECHL’s Kelly Cup and went 3-2 with a 3.49 GAA and .894 save percentage in eight appearances. He appeared in three games in the Kelly Cup Final, helping Allen defeat the Wheeling Nailers four games to two.
