Fitzgerald Returns: Defenseman Cavan Fitzgerald returned to the Rockford lineup last night after missing nearly two months due to injury. Fitzgerald, 29, returned to the top paring with Kevin Korchinski for the IceHogs against Grand Rapids Friday night. The IceHogs' 2024-25 team MVP tallied 22 points (8G, 14A) a season ago. The veteran blueliner returns to the lineup as rookie defenseman Taige Harding is expected to miss time with injury. Fitzgerald will now return to Rosemont where he spent four seasons as a member of the Wolves, winning a Calder Cup in the 2021-22 season.
Playoff Push: The IceHogs enter the middle of their three-game weekend having picked up points in four of their seven games this month. Rockford's three-game point streak came to an end with a 4-2 loss to Grand Rapids last night. The IceHogs continue their push to the postseason as they battle the top two teams in the Central division in a three-game weekend.
