Fraser a part of Kings first ever championship
Rockford, Ill.- Center Colin Fraser became the first former Rockford IceHogs skater to win multiple Stanley Cups on Monday when the Los Angeles Kings defeated the New Jersey Devils 6-1 to win the best-of-seven Stanley Cup Final series four games to two.
Fraser appeared in all 18 Kings postseason games notching a goal and an assist. The Sicamous, B.C. native opened the scoring in the Stanley Cup Finals with his first career NHL playoff goal in game one in New Jersey.
In his first season with Los Angeles, Fraser played in 67 regular season games with the Kings in 2011-12, notching 2g-6a-8pts with 67 PIMs. Fraser was traded to the Kings on June 26, 2011 for Ryan Smyth and missed the first month-and-a-half of the regular season due to a foot injury.
The ‘11-12 season was Fraser’s fourth full NHL campaign since permanently graduating from the AHL to the NHL following the 2007-08 season with Rockford. During his lone year with the IceHogs, Fraser served as the alternate captain and tallied 17g-24a-41pts in 75 games.
From 2005 to 2010, Fraser played in 157 games with the Blackhawks and was a member of the 2010 Stanley Cup Championship club. The center appeared in three Stanley Cup Playoff games during Chicago’s march to the title.
