Jan 19, 2010
Written By: Rockford IceHogs
Portland, Maine-Rockford IceHogs All-Star forwards Mark Cullen and Jack Skille competed in the Ducks Unlimited Skills Competition on Monday night, kicking off the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic in Portland, Maine.

Both skaters are making their first career appearance in the annual event and both are on the PlanetUSA Team. Skille, a Madison, Wis. native, skated in the Sher-Wood Puck Control Relay and was teamed up with Peoria’s Jonas Junland and Manitoba rookie Sergei Shirokov. Skille’s team knocked off the Canadian Team consisting of Portland’s Tyler Ennis, former IceHogs center and current Binghamton center Martin St. Pierre and Hartford’s Corey Locke.

Cullen, a Virginia, Minn. native, participated in the Reebok Fastest Skater competition and recorded the fifth fastest time among the ten participants. The center missed an attempt in the EA Sports NHL 10 Breakaway Relay, the final event of the night.

Skille also helped in the McDonald’s Pass and Score event. The Rockford winger was teamed up with Peoria’s Lars Eller and Providence defenseman Andy Wozniewski.

The Canadian Team ended up winning the Ducks Unlimited Skills Competition 18-12.
