As part of Chicago Blackhawk Charities grant distribution for the 2009-10 season, the organization today announced their continued relationship with Dreams for Kids as a grantee of the Blackhawk Charities. A new partnership with Dreams for Kids will be officially unveiled during a kickoff event at Chicago Illuminating Company on Tuesday, September 15 from 6-9 pm.

Chicago Blackhawk Charities, whose support for Dreams for Kids dates back to 2002, will work with the grantee throughout their 20th anniversary celebration year and beyond. The Chicago Blackhawks will be incorporated into a special Dreams for Kids 20th anniversary logo that will be revealed on September 15. The partnership will allow both organizations to emphasize and leverage their global outreach to children in need.

“This historic partnership will bring a generation of kids from the sidelines of life empowering them to realize their dreams,” said Tom Tuohy, President and Founder of Dreams for Kids.

Dreams for Kids, a worldwide, volunteer-driven children’s charity founded and based in Chicago, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Through various initiatives from global awareness workshops to adaptive sporting events, Dreams for Kids unites children of every ability, race, religion, and socio-economic background and inspires them to realize their full potential.

Tuesday’s event, which will be emceed by Blackhawks radio broadcaster John Wiedeman, will feature a speech by team Chairman Rocky Wirtz as well as appearances by Blackhawks
Kris Versteeg and Troy Brouwer and members of the front office.

“Dreams for Kids presented Chicago Blackhawk Charities with tangible program opportunities that met with our mission and created platforms that would allow us to impact the lives of children throughout Chicago,” said Blackhawks Senior Director of Market Development & Community Affairs Pete Hassen. “We salute Dreams for Kids on their 20th Anniversary Celebration and look forward to partnering with them for many years to come.”
