BLACKHAWKS REASSIGN NILSSON TO ROCKFORD

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Chicago Blackhawks today announced they have reassigned forward Jacob Nilsson to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Nilsson, 25, was recalled on Dec. 22 and skated in two games with the Blackhawks. The forward made his NHL debut on Dec. 23 vs. Florida and took 11 shifts on Dec. 27 vs. Minnesota.

The Morrum, Sweden native returns to Rockford where he has logged 14 points (6g, 8a) in 31 AHL contests this year. He skated in each of Rockford’s first 31 games on the season prior to his recall to Chicago, including posting four points (2g, 2a) over his final two AHL appearances with the IceHogs.

Prior to making his AHL debut, the Nilsson skated with Mora IK in Sweden for three seasons from 2015-18. He played under former IceHogs and current Blackhawks head coach, Jeremy Colliton, during the his first two years in Allsvenskan, and helped the club earn a promotion to the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) by notching a career-best 42 points (20g, 22a) in 46 games during the 2016-17 campaign. Nilsson then registered eight goals and 10 assists in 40 contests during Mora IK’s first season in the SHL in 2017-18.
