Blackhawks Mourn Passing of Reggie Fleming

Chicago Blackhawks Chairman W. Rockwell “Rocky” Wirtz and General Manager Dale Tallon have released the following statements regarding the passing of former Blackhawks forward Reggie Fleming, 73.

"We will certainly miss Reggie, a life-long Blackhawk,” Wirtz said. “He'll be remembered for his fiery personality and his support for this franchise which did not waiver in good times or in bad. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family."

"Today is a sad day for the Blackhawks family, with the loss of Reggie,” Tallon said. “On the ice he was fierce competitor and off the ice he was caring and gentle. We will certainly miss him and his strong passion for the Blackhawks."

Fleming spent four of his 12 National Hockey League seasons as a member of the Blackhawks, which includes helping the team capture the 1961 Stanley Cup. The Montreal native registered 455 penalty minutes and 47 points (21G, 26A) in 261 career regular-season games and 84 penalty minutes and five points (3G, 2A) in 37 postseason tilts from 1960 to 1964.

Overall, Fleming appeared in 749 career NHL regular-season games, racking up 1,468 penalty minutes and 240 points (108G, 132A) with the Montreal Canadiens (1959-60), Blackhawks (1960-64), Boston Bruins (1964-66), New York Rangers (1965-69), Philadelphia Flyers (1969-70) and Buffalo Sabres (1970-71.

Fleming also spent two seasons with the World Hockey Association’s Chicago Cougars from 1972 to 1974, notching 25 goals, 57 assists, 82 points and 142 penalty minutes in 120 career outings.
