The Matchup:
2025-26 Season Series: 0-1-0-0
Tale of the Tape: The IceHogs have the chance to split the weekend set with Grand Rapids this afternoon for their first trip to Van Andel Arena this season. Nick Lardis picked up his 13th point of the season (5g,8a) with a power play goal last night. Lardis' 13 points is good for the second spot in AHL scoring through his first nine games. John Leonard recorded his seventh goal of the season to lead Grand Rapids (7g,2a) through seven games. Sebastian Cossa made 24 saves Saturday night to pick up his fourth win on the year.
Three Things To Know:
Power Play Breaks Through: Rockford finally broke through on the power play late Saturday night to end a 0/25 over their last four games when Lardis found the back of the net. The IceHogs special teams struggled to begin the game, surrendering both a power play and shorthanded goal to Grand Rapids in the first period. Rockford went 3/4 on the penalty kill against Grand Rapids and have the eight-most PIM in the AHL this season.
Rookies Litter Scoresheet Again: A handful of Rockford rookies collected points again Saturday night against Grand Rapids. Martin Misiak recorded his first AHL point with the primary assist on Jackson Cates' goal in the first period. Oliver Moore picked up his fourth assist on Lardis' power play goal. Lardis and Moore are still at the top of the AHL rookie scoring leaderboard.
On The Road Again: The IceHogs took to the road immediately following the Saturday night battle to take on the Griffins. Rockford is 3-2 away from the BMO Center to begin the season following a 6-1 win in Rosemont earlier this week. The IceHogs posted a 3-3 record at Van Andel Arena last season against the Griffins after going 4-2 in Grand Rapids in the 2023-24 season.
Rockford is back at home inside the BMO Center on Saturday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m. to host the Admirals on "Back to the Future Night." Tickets are still available at icehogs.com
