Game Preview: IceHogs Travel To Battle Iowa Wild

Nov 09, 2025
Written By: Nick Lalpuis

Des Moines, IA- The Rockford IceHogs (6-5-1-0) hit the road to conclude their weekend with an evening battle against the Iowa Wild (4-6-0-1) for a 6 p.m. puck drop.  Rockford looks to bounce back following a 2-0 loss to the Milwaukee Admirals last night at the BMO Center.

The Matchup:

2024-25 Season series: 1-0-0-0

Tale of the Tape: Rockford and Iowa meet for the second time this season after the IceHogs took the first game of the season series on 10/12 with a 6-2 win in Des Moines. Stanislav Berezhnoy made 29 saves in the outing to secure his first career AHL win. The combination of Dillon Boucher, Jamie Engelbert and Connor Mylymok totaled seven points in the IceHogs’ route of their central division opponent. Oliver Moore scored his first AHL goal in the Sunday afternoon contest. This evening’s battle is the second of ten meetings between the two clubs this season. The Wild suffered a 4-0 setback in Rosemont last night against the Chicago Wolves.

Three Things To Know:

Into the Wild: The IceHogs will have a chance to pick up back-to-back wins to open the season series with the Wild. Dating back to last season, the IceHogs have won the last four meetings against Iowa, including the last two in Des Moines. The Hogs have picked up a .500 point percentage in Des Moines in each of the last four seasons, going 3-3 in enemy territory last season against the Wild. Rockford has taken the previous two season series.

Injury Update: The IceHogs received welcomed news on the injury front earlier this week when defenseman Andrew Perrott and goaltender Stanislav Berezhnoy were cleared from injury. Perrott skated in both games earlier this weekend against Milwaukee, and has appeared in six games for the IceHogs this season. The veteran blueliner split time between the Hersey Bears (AHL) and South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) last season. Berezhnoy returned to the lineup last night, serving as the backup to Drew Commesso. The Russian netminder has a .944 save percentage in his first two AHL starts.

Defensive Struggle: Rockford came up short in last nights battle with Milwaukee while holding the Admirals to just 21 shots on goal. The Ads were held to just ten shots through the first 40 minutes of play while Rockford posted just 14 shots. The IceHogs' penalty kill had yet another strong outing as they went 4/4 Saturday night. The Rockford penalty kill went a perfect 7/7 against the Admirals this weekend and is now operating at 83% on the year.
