Game Preview: IceHogs Take On Griffins To Begin Loaded Weekend
Rockford, IL- The Rockford IceHogs (14-19-2-2) are on the road to battle the Grand Rapids Griffins (29-2-2-1) for the fifth time this season at 6 p.m. at Van Andel Arena. This marks the start of a three games in three days stretch for the IceHogs.
The Matchup:
All Time Record: 75-67-6-5
Season Series: 0-4-0-0
Tale of the Tape: The IceHogs and Griffins square off for the first time since Dec. 13 where Grand Rapids took a 1-0 victory. The Griffins are off to one of the best starts to a season in the 90 years of the AHL with a 29-2-2-1 record but they enter tonight's matchup with back-to-back losses. Rockford snapped their skid with a 6-2 win over the Manitoba Moose Tuesday night where rookie goalie Owen Flores picked up his first AHL win. The IceHogs will look to carry the momentum of their six-goal output into Grand Rapids, having struggled to break the two goal plateau in the first four meetings with the Griffins. Tonight the IceHogs begin a stretch of playing three games in three days in three different arenas, concluding the weekend at the BMO Center against the Chicago Wolves.

Three Things to Know:
Go With The Flo: The IceHogs ended their six-game losing streak and helped Owen Flores secure his first AHL win in a 6-2 performance over the Moose earlier this week. The Chicago native made 28 saves in his second start with the IceHogs after posting a 32 save performance in a shootout loss in his AHL debut on January, 10. Flores, 21, signed a one-year deal with the IceHogs last summer after putting up a 24-16-6 record in his final OHL season with the Niagara IceDogs. Flores has a 8-5-3 record in 16 games with the Indy Fuel this season.
All Star Rosters Released: The Rockford IceHogs and American Hockey League unveiled the 2026 All-Star Classic Rosters yesterday afternoon as the event nears downtown Rockford. Defenseman Kevin Korchinski and Forward Nick Lardis have been selected to represent the IceHogs in this year's event. Lardis posted 26 points (13g, 13a) in 24 games before getting the call to join the Blackhawks. The rookie has four goals and an assist in 15 games with the Blackhawks this season. Korchinski returns to the event with the title of All-Star MVP from a season ago. The IceHogs' defenseman has 17 points (2g, 15a) in his second AHL season. The All-Star Classic is being held at the BMO Center next month with the Skills Competition taking place on February, 10 and the game itself taking place the next day.
Depth Scoring: The BMO Center had lots to cheer about Tuesday night to the tune of a six-goal output by the hometown Hogs. Defenseman Sam Rinzel tallied his first AHL goal to open the scoring for the IceHogs in the first period. Rookie Harrison Israels also collected his first AHL goal and give Rockford the lead. Jackson Cates and Martin Misiak would also find the back of the net while Kevin Lombardi recorded his fifth goal of the season. Lombardi now has eight points over his last eight games. Rem Pitlick recorded his tenth goal of the season, and his fourth as an IceHog. Pitlick now has 12 points in 10 games with the IceHogs this season.
