Game Preview: IceHogs Return To Action, Host Stars For Saturday Showdown
Rockford, IL- The Rockford IceHogs return to the BMO Center this evening to take on the Texas Stars. The IceHogs will unveil their brand-new digital dasher boards when the puck drops tonight at 7 p.m.
The Matchup:
All-Time Series:
Season Series: 2-1-0-1
Tale of The Tape: The IceHogs and Stars meet for the first time since late November where the IceHogs split the weekend series down in Texas. Rockford returns to the BMO Center after picking up two points in Manitoba before the holiday break with a 7-3 win over the Moose. The seven-goal outburst was the highest goal tally in a single game for the IceHogs this season. The IceHogs have taken three out of four possible points in the first two meetings against the Stars at home this season. The Stars come into the Saturday night contest after sweeping the Milwaukee Admirals last weekend on home ice.
Three Things To Know:
New Look BMO: The IceHogs announced earlier this week the addition of brand-new digital dasher boards for a 360-display around the playing surface. The BMO Center is one of the first arenas in North America to boast the LED display around the ice which will enhance the in-game entertainment and sponsorship aspects of games in Rockford. The renovation to the playing surface comes just a few months prior to the AHL All-Star Classic which will take place in the BMO Center February 10-11.
Spengler Cup Connection: The IceHogs have two representatives at the 2025 Spengler Cup in Switzerland. Brett Seney and Nolan Allan joined the Team Canada roster for this year's tournament. Seney tallied a goal in Canada's win over U.S. Collegiate Selects. The IceHogs captain played in the tournament last year for team Canada while Allan is playing in the international competition for the first time.
Roster Updates: The IceHogs announced a handful of transactions over the last week. Forward Marcel Marcel was released from his contract to go play in Europe. Both Allan and Seney have been loaned to the Team Canada roster for the 2025 Spengler Cup. Rockford signed defenseman DJ King to a PTO. King appeared in six games for the IceHogs last season before joining the South Carolina Stingrays this past summer. The IceHogs also recalled Center Harrison Israels from the Indy Fuel. Israels has 15 points (6G, 9A) in 25 games with the Fuel.
