Written By: Nick Lalpuis

Rockford, IL- The Rockford IceHogs (6-4-1-0) host the Milwaukee Admirals (5-1-2-0) at the BMO Center for a 7 p.m. puck drop to conclude their weekend series. Rockford took a point but fell short to the Admirals Friday night in overtime by a 2-1 final. Drew Commesso made 34 saves to help the IceHogs earn a point in their first game of a three-game weekend.

The Matchup:

Season Series: 1-0-1-0

Tale of the Tape: The IceHogs wrap up their home-and-home series with the Admirals tonight at 7 p.m. following a thrilling overtime contest last night in Milwaukee. Neither team found the back of the net in a first period that saw 46 combined penalty minutes. Ethan Del Mastro would score the lone goal for Rockford in the middle period, netting a power play goal and his first goal of the year. Milwaukee goaltender Matthew Murray would make 23 saves to pick up his fourth win of the year. The IceHogs enter tonight's battle with the Ads one point ahead in the standings through their first 11 games.

Three Things To Know:

Friday Fight Night: Rockford and Milwaukee spent plenty of time in the penalty box in the first game of their two game series. The two bitter rivals would combine for 60 PIM in the middle period, including three fights, in just their second meeting of the year. The IceHogs would go 1/4 on the power play while their penalty kill kept Milwaukee off the scoreboard killing all three Admirals' power plays. The two clubs would end the night with 112 total PIM. The single- game record for combined penalty minutes in an IceHogs game is 230 back on 1/19/2013 against the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Del Mastro's Streak: Defenseman Ethan Del Mastro collected his first goal of the season with a power play tally just over a minute into the middle period. With the goal, the 2021 4th round draft pick extended his point streak to four games. Del Mastro, a native of Burlington, ON, now has seven points (1g, 6a) on the season which puts him in the 12th spot in scoring among AHL defenseman. The 22-year-old is nearing his 2024-25 point total where he collected nine assists. Del Mastro put up 37 points (7g, 30a) with the IceHogs in his rookie campaign during the 2023-24 season.

Free Hockey: For the second time this season, the IceHogs and Admirals would require more than 60 minutes to determine the outcome. In the season opener, Samuel Savoie claimed the extra point for Rockford with his overtime winning goal over the Admirals. Daniel Carr found the game winner last night for Milwaukee to even the season series. The IceHogs have had four of their first eleven games head to the extra period, posting a 3-1 record in overtime.
