Game Preview: IceHogs Look To Split Weekend in Colorado

Oct 25, 2025
Written By: Nick Lalpuis

Loveland, CO- The IceHogs will go for the weekend split of the Eagles tonight at 8 p.m. at Blue Arena. Rockford suffered their first shutout loss Friday night in their first meeting with Colorado since the 2022-23 season. A pair of familiar names made their season debut with Rockford last night with Joey Anderson and Mitchell Weeks taking the ice in Colorado.

Three Things To Know:

Anderson Returns To IceHogs: Forward Joey Anderson made his season debut with the IceHogs last night in Colorado after being assigned by Chicago earlier this week. Anderson skated in 33 games with Rockford last season, posting 27 points (17G, 10A). The Minnesota native had a productive postseason for the IceHogs, compiling 8 points (5G, 3A) in seven games during Rockford's postseason run last spring. Anderson has 166 points (88G, 78A) in 212 career AHL games.

Seney Climbs IceHogs' Leaderboards: Rockford captain Brett Seney is off to a hot start to the 2025-26 campaign with seven points (2G, 5A) to place in the top ten in AHL scoring. The fourth-year IceHog is also climbing franchise leaderboards, moving into fourth all-time in multi-point games with 39. Seney has also moved into fourth all time in points with 163 points, passing Mark McNeill. The London, ON native collected his 300th AHL point with an assist on 10/17 against the Texas Stars.

Toninato Settling In With Rockford: Forward Dominic Toninato signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Chicago Blackhawks this past summer. The 31-year-old has contributed early with four points (3G, 1A) in his first season with Rockford. Toninato, a Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft may be a familiar name to IceHogs fans as he has spend the previous five seasons as a member of the Manitoba Moose. Toninato also skated in 57 games with the Colorado Eagles in the 2018-19 season where he collected 29 points. The Minnesota native has skated in over 250 AHL games and has 148 AHL points (76G, 72A). The veteran forward also has 189 career regular-season NHL games between the Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers, and Winnipeg Jets.

Heard It Here First:

Toninato on joining Rockford:

Love the group of guys we have, we have a lot of skill, everyone's buying in and finding ways to win which is huge. It helps when the boys are off to a good start. Everyone has been great here, I am really excited for the year,

The Matchup:

Friday Recap: The Eagles stifled the IceHogs' attack Friday night, limiting them to 25 shots on goal. Colorado scored three power play goals in their 5-0 win over Rockford Friday night.  Tristen Nielsen, Jayson Megna and Jason Polin picked up the power play goals for the Eagles. The Eagles would tally another power play goal in the third before securing an empty net goal to secure a 5-0 win. The IceHogs power play was shut down, going 0/6 Friday night. Kyle Kesyer picked up his first shutout of the season by making 25 saves. Mitchell Weeks made his first appearance for Rockford last night when he came in to relieve Drew Commesso who went 31/35. Weeks stopped all six shots he faced.
