Three Things to Know:
Stout Special Teams: Rockford has posted a strong five-game stretch on the penalty kill, surrendering just one goal shorthanded over that time. This current stretch started against the Wolves on January, 9th where the IceHogs did not take a single minor penalty in the 60 minute bout with Chicago. Rockford then went 10/11 in two meetings with the Manitoba Moose, notching their sixth short-handed goal of the season on January, 10. Last night Rockford went 5/6 against the Wolves, surrendering a 5-on-3 shorthanded goal. Both IceHogs' goals came on the power play from Rem Pitlick and Kevin Lombardi.
Pitlick Picks the Corner: Forward Rem Pitlick recorded an early goal for Rockford on the power play in last night's contest. The acquisition from Bakersfield has 11 goals on the season (five with RFD) and 28 total points. The Rockford forward has recorded goals in four of his last five games and has moved into second in team scoring behind Brett Seney. The Ontario native has collected five points on the power play (3g, 2a) in 12 games with the IceHogs.
All Star Rosters Released: The Rockford IceHogs and American Hockey League unveiled the 2026 All-Star Classic Rosters yesterday afternoon as the event nears downtown Rockford. Defenseman Kevin Korchinski and Forward Nick Lardis have been selected to represent the IceHogs in this year's event. Lardis posted 26 points (13g, 13a) in 24 games before getting the call to join the Blackhawks. The rookie has four goals and an assist in 15 games with the Blackhawks this season. Korchinski returns to the event with the title of All-Star MVP from a season ago. The IceHogs' defenseman has 17 points (2g, 15a) in his second AHL season. The All-Star Classic is being held at the BMO Center next month with the Skills Competition taking place on February, 10 and the game itself taking place the next day.
