Written By: Nick Lalpuis

Rockford, IL- The Rockford IceHogs (15-19-2-2) play their first of back-to-back meetings with the Chicago Wolves (17-9-4-4 ) with tonight's game at All State Arena. Rockford is coming off of a 3-1 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins last night.

Tale of the Tape: The IceHogs are in the middle of a three games in three days stretch after securing a 3-1 road win over the Griffins last night. Rockford has won back-to-back games and have stifled both the Moose and Griffins high-powered offense. Chicago is also coming off of two consecutive wins after taking a 5-4 win in Milwaukee last night. The Wolves 3-2-1-1 in the month of January which has them second in the Central division.

Three Things To Know:

Slowing Down the Griffins: The IceHogs limited the Griffins' offense last night in the 3-to-1 final. Berezhnoy and the IceHogs held the Griffins off the board for the first 40 minutes of the game, mirroring their last trip to Van Andel Arena in December. The rookie netminder made 31 saves to hand the Griffins their third consecutive loss. Grand Rapids is the top scoring team in the league, averaging 3.76 goals per game but have been held to just one goal in each of the last two meetings with the IceHogs.

Rotating Goalies: Stanislav Berezhnoy posted a strong outing against the top-scoring offense in the AHL last night. It's no secret that the organization has been dealing with an illness that has forced both the Blackhawks and IceHogs to make call-ups between the pipes over the last two weeks. Berezhnoy picked up his fifth win last night, allowing just one goal on 32 shots faced. The IceHogs got a strong performance from rookie Owen Flores in the previous game making 28 saves over the Moose for his first career AHL win.

Stout Special Teams: Rockford has posted a strong four-game stretch on the penalty kill, surrendering just one goal shorthanded over the previous four games. This current stretch started against the Wolves on January, 9th where the IceHogs did not take a single minor penalty in the 60 minute bout with Chicago. Rockford then went 10/11 in two meetings with the Manitoba Moose, notching their sixth short-handed goal of the season on January, 10. Last night the penalty kill remained a focal point, going 4/4 against the Griffins.
