Rem Pitlick was the hero with two goals in regulation and the shootout winner. Drew Commesso made 26 saves and stopped all three Chicago chances in the shootout. Three Things to Know:
Thompson Returns: Rockford got two key players back into the lineup last night with Brett Seney and Aidan Thompson slotting back in. Thompson has been out since Dec. 12 with an upper body injury. The rookie has 11 points (5g, 6a) in 27 games with the IceHogs this season. The Denver University product joined the IceHogs at the end of the regular season last year and put up four points in seven postseason games.
Mylymok Resigns: The IceHogs announced that they have resigned Connor Mylymok to a contract extension through the 2026-27 season. Mylymok has collected five points (2g, 3a) through 30 games with the IceHogs. The 25-year-old leads the IceHogs with 103 penalty minutes and has recorded seven fighting majors this season. Mylymok has found a good connection with his linemates Jamie Engelbert and Dillon Boucher who have been called "the energy line".
Cardiac Hogs: The IceHogs will take on the Wolves for the ninth time this season. The I-90 rivals treated a packed BMO Center to an instant classic last Sunday with the IceHogs prevailing in a 6-5 shootout victory. The first eight matchups have been tightly contested with four of the eight battles being decided by a goal, and two requiring extra time. Sunday's win over Chicago was the Hogs' first shootout win in their third attempt of the season.
