Andrew AllenDevelopmental Goaltending Coach
Andrew Allen enters his fourth season in the Chicago Blackhawks organization, serving as the developmental goaltending coach for the Rockford IceHogs. During his first three seasons in Rockford, Allen has overseen the development of goalies Carter Hutton, Kent Simpson, Mac Carruth and Antti Raanta. Allen was also instrumental in the organization’s pursuit Raanta while he was playing in his native country of Finland.
Prior to joining the Blackhawks staff, Allen had served as the goaltending coach for St. Lawrence University (NCAA) since the 2008-09 season. The Vankleek Hill, Ontario native had also been the National Team Goaltending Coach and Developmental Consultant for the Japanese Ice Hockey Federation since 2006.
Allen, 38, spent five seasons playing professionally between the ECHL and AHL. The former goalie spent his final two seasons between the pipes with the Trenton Titans (ECHL) and helped backstop them to the 2005 Kelly Cup Championship under the watch of current IceHogs Head Coach Ted Dent (assistant coach with Trenton) and former IceHogs Head Coach Mike Haviland (head coach in Trenton). Allen went 30-11-3 in 2004-05 with a 2.36 GAA and a .916 SPCT.
His AHL stops included Hershey, Utah, Binghamton and Providence. During his five-year playing career, Allen compiled an overall record of 79-50-15 in 152 career appearances with a .913 save percentage and a 2.57 goals against average.
Before playing professionally, Allen spent four seasons at the University of Vermont (NCAA) where he blocked pucks for the Catamounts from 1997-2001.
