What: The Field Museum congratulates both the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago Bulls for their fantastic sporting playoff achievements. In honor of their winning records, The Field Museum will display team jerseys in extraordinary fashion.

The Chicago Blackhawks jersey will now be on the Museum’s Dissemination of Knowledge statue, an nine-foot high figure of a woman reading to a baby, located in the northeast corner of Stanley Field Hall. The baby will be dressed as the Blackhawks fan.

The Chicago Bulls jersey will now adorn the Museum’s Pterodactyl hanging from the ceiling of Stanley Field Hall outside of our Evolving Planet exhibition.

When: Installation of these jerseys happened this morning, April 22, 2009. The jerseys will remain on display until further notice.

Details: Great photo opportunity to show that all of Chicago – including prehistoric flying reptiles – is rooting on our hometown sports teams in their continuing efforts to become World Champions. The Museum also salutes Derrick Rose on becoming NBA’s Rookie of the Year.
