FIVE OF SIX POINTS KEEPS ROCKFORD IN WEST DIVISION RACE

IceHogs offense continues to roll in Week 8

Week 8 Recap
The offense continues to produce for the Rockford IceHogs as the club picked up five out of a possible six points in Week 8 of the 2008-09 American Hockey League regular season.  Pascal Pelletier paced the Hogs offense with six goals in Week 8 while Tim Brent, Petri Kontiola and Jack Skille all continue to chip in points.  Week 9 has two road games slated against two more West Division opponents.

Bacon Bits:
-Pascal Pelletier tied an IceHogs franchise record and set an IceHogs AHL record with four goals in Wednesday’s 6-1 win over San Antonio

-Pelletier also tied an IceHogs AHL record with a goal in four straight games

-The mark is one shy of the franchise record of five accomplished by seven different players, most recently Preston Mizzi from 1/26/07-2/6/07

-Sean McMorrow tied an IceHogs franchise record and set an IceHogs AHL record when he was tagged with 47 PIMs on Saturday

-Rockford set a team season high with 68 PIMs on Saturday against Peoria

-Forwards Petri Kontiola (2g-8s-10pts) and Jack Skille (5g-5a-10pts) are both riding team season high seven-game point streaks dating back to 11/15/08

-Tim Brent has an assist in four straight games, matching an IceHogs season best set earlier this season by Kontiola and Danny Groulx

-Rockford has scored 30 goals over its past seven games (4.29 goals per game) after netting 36 goals in its first 14 contests (2.57 goals per game)

-Rockford is 10-3-0-2 against the West Division this season including 6-1-0-1 at the Rockford MetroCentre 

-The IceHogs were held without a power-play goal for just the fourth time this season on Saturday, ending a seven game stretch with a power-play marker

-Brent, Kontiola and Pelletier each have five multi-point games this season while the rest of the team has a combined 13 multi-point contests

-Defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson recorded a plus/minus rating of +5 in three games last week and is +7 over his past nine games

-
After beginning the month of November 0-4-0-1, Rockford finished the month 5-1-0-1 to go 5-5-0-2 in 12 November games

Hot Hog Week 8:
Winger Pascal Pelletier put together the most productive offensive week of any IceHogs player so far in 2008-09.  Pelletier began the week by setting an IceHogs AHL single-game record when he tallied four goals against San Antonio on Wednesday, including a natural hat trick in the first period.  After a goal on Friday at Peoria, Pelletier added a goal and a helper in Rockford’s 5-2 win over the Rivermen on Saturday.

Upcoming Games:
Friday, Dec. 5 at Quad City Flames.  Game time is 7:05 p.m.  Rockford opens a light two-game week on the road against division rivals with a trip to the I Wireless Center in Moline to faceoff against the Flames.  The game is the second between the West Division foes in Quad City and is the fourth meeting overall.

Saturday, Dec. 6 at Chicago Wolves.  The game starts at 7 p.m.  First place could be on the line on Saturday when the IceHogs return to the Allstate Arena in Rosemont to battle the rival Wolves.  The game is the second of the season between the teams, both coming in Rosemont, and is the first of four in the month of December between the teams.

The IceHogs Broadcasting Network:
Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all of the IceHogs regular and post-season games on the Hogs flagship radio station Rockford’s Voice, WNTA-AM 1330 and 30 regular season games on ESPN Radio 1380-AM, WTJK.  Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with AHL Live!  Visit the IceHogs Web site (icehogs.com) and click on the “click here to watch the AHL Live” icon, and for just $6, you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer.  Also, fans with Comcast Cable television can tune in to Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season.  The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 30 minutes before the puck drops. Make sure to give your opinion during the Comcast Post-Game Call-In Show following each game at (815) 874-8255.

Hog Talk Returns Tonight At Cousin’s Bar and Grill:

Bud Light Hog Talk returns tonight at Cousin’s Bar and Grill.  Join Jim Stone from 6-7 p.m. at Cousin’s as he chats IceHogs hockey with Hogs Head Coach Bill Peters.  Tonight’s show will also feature forward Pete MacArthur and defenseman Tim Hambly.  Stop out to Cousin’s, located on the corner of East State St. and Perryville in Rockford, and take advantage of some great food and Bud Light specials.  If you can’t make it out to Cousin’s, tune into 1330 AM, WNTA.

Where to Watch the IceHogs:
IceHogs fans can now catch every IceHogs regular season game live on TV!  Every IceHogs home game during the 2008-09 season can be viewed on Comcast Cable Channel-57.  When the IceHogs are on the road log onto the IceHogs official team Web site, www.icehogs.com, and watch the IceHogs through AHL Live for just $6.  Fans can also stop out to the Sports Page, located on Broadway near Alpine Road in Rockford, and watch the IceHogs when the team is on the road.

IceHogs individual game tickets are now on sale!  Call (815) 968-5222 to reserve your seats for any IceHogs regular season game during the 2008-09 season.  Tickets can also be purchased in person at the Rockford MetroCentre Box Office in downtown Rockford, at Hogs Headquarters inside Cherryvale Mall or on the Web at www.metrocentre.com.  Tickets start at just $10.
