Rockford readies for division rivals

Postseason Week 2 Recap
The Rockford IceHogs completed a three-game road sweep in Houston against the Aeros during Week 2 of the 2008 Calder Cup Postseason and finished off Houston in the West Division Semifinals 4-1.  After their first round win, the IceHogs continue the postseason against the Chicago Wolves beginning on Thursday.

Tuesday, April 22: Rockford 2 at Houston 1 (Game Three)
Thursday, April 24: Rockford 2 at Houston 1 (Game Four) 
Friday, April 25: Rockford 5 at Houston 2 (Game Five)

Rockford and Houston combined to go 0-for-39 in their West Division Semifinals series

Rockford went 0-for-19 on the power play

The IceHogs broke a franchise record for fewest goals allowed in a playoff series and tied an AHL record for fewest goals allowed in a five-game series allowing just six goals against Houston

Rockford won three straight road postseason games for the first time in franchise history

The IceHogs were 0-4 all-time in Game Three on the road until they topped the Aeros 2-1 in Houston in Game Three last Tuesday

Rockford’s series-clinching win in Houston on Friday marked just the second time in Hogs franchise history that the club ended a series on the road

Goalie Corey Crawford set an IceHogs single-series postseason records with a 1.10 goals against average and a .955 save percentage

The IceHogs have won four straight postseason series

The Calder Cup Playoff series win was the first for IceHogs Head Coach Mike Haviland in his three seasons as an AHL head coach

Hot Hog Postseason Week 2:
Forward Kris Versteeg had a goal in all three games for the IceHogs in Week Two of the Postseason.  Versteeg leads the IceHogs in goals and is tied for the club lead in points and plus/minus rating after the first round of the postseason.

Upcoming Games:
Thursday, May 1 at Chicago Wolves. (Game One) Game time is 7 p.m. The IceHogs and Wolves renew their rivalry playoff style.  It’s Game One of the West Division Finals at the Allstate Arena.  The series is best-of-seven and one team will get a leg up as they battle for a trip to the Western Conference Finals.

Saturday, May 3 at Chicago Wolves. (GameTwo) The puck drops at 7 p.m. A crucial Game Two of the West Division Finals commences at the Allstate Arena on Saturday.  One team will try to even the series at a game apiece while the other will look for a 2-0 series lead before heading to Rockford.

Sunday, May 4 vs. Chicago Wolves. (Game Three)  The game starts at 4:05 p.m. The West Division Finals swing into Rockford with Game Three.  The game is the first of two straight at the MetroCentre in the best-of-seven series.

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all of the IceHogs postseason games on the Hogs flagship radio station Rockford’s Voice, WNTA-AM 1330 as well as Games One, Four and Seven against the Wolves on ESPN Radio 1380-AM, WTJK.  Watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with the B2 Networks!  Visit the IceHogs Web site (icehogs.com) and click on the “click here to watch the game live” icon, and for just $6, you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer.  Also, fans with Comcast Cable television can tune into Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action at home this season.  The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 30 minutes before the puck drops. Where to Watch the IceHogs:
IceHogs fans can now catch every IceHogs regular season game live on TV!  Every IceHogs home game during the 2007-08 season can be viewed on Comcast Cable Channel-57.  When the IceHogs are on the road fans can watch them live at Damon’s Grill in Rockford.  Fans can take advantage of great Bud Light specials and food specials at Damon’s Grill.
