IceHogs tally four goals in final frame, to push win streak to five

Rockford, Ill- The Rockford IceHogs (15-4-0-1) extended their win streak to five games as they defeated the Iowa Wild (5-13-1-0) by a score of 6-1 at the BMO Harris Bank Center Wednesday night.

After a scoreless first period, the Hogs tallied a pair of goals in the middle frame and four more during the final 20 minutes to tie a season-high six goals in the contest.

With traffic in front of the net, Teuvo Teravainen redirected a Stephen Johns blast from the blueline to break the scoreless game at 12:49 of the second period.

As it looked like the Wild gained some momentum IceHogs goalie Scott Darling put an end to it with a timely save. Viktor Svedberg cleared the puck out the defensive zone a few seconds later and sprung Dennis Rasmussen through the neutral zone. Rasmussen skated into the Wild zone and fired a shot on the cage. The rookie skater was able to gain possession of his own rebound and pushed the IceHogs to 2-0 with 1:51 left in the second period.

With the lead a 2-0 to begin the final stanza Ville Pokka netted a pair of goals to extend the lead after Drew LeBlanc scored to make it a 3-0 score. T.J. Brennan and Pierre-Cedric Labrie picked up assists on the first of Pokka's goals while Teravainen and Brennan each picked up their second point on the night on Pokka's second tally.

Iowa’s Christian Folin tallied his first goal of the season from Brett Sutter and Zack Mitchell to end the IceHogs shutout streak of 112:09.

Peter Regin smoothered any momentum Iowa gained as he lit the lamp with 5:42 left in regulation. Rasmussen and Kyle Cumiskey each tallied an assist on the goal.

Darling made 28 saves to improve his record to 8-2-0-0 and extend Rockford’s win streak to five games while Rockford registered a season-high 49 shots on Curry who took the loss for Iowa.

Next Home Game: Friday, Nov. 28, vs. Chicago Wolves: Face off is set for 7 p.m. The Brovember festivities continue into the first half of an Illinois Lottery Cup home-and-home series against the Wolves. The IceHogs will once again be wearing their specialty jerseys, a few of which will be available via silent auction with proceeds benefitting Healing Pathways Cancer Resource Center.
