Rockford, Ill. - Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Monday that the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs have loaned defenseman Ben Youds to the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye.
The 24-year-old defenseman recorded his third career multi-point game with two helpers in the IceHogs 5-4 victory over Charlotte on Sunday. In three games this season, the d-man has two points and two penalty minutes.
In 2011-12 Youds competed in his first professional campaign, notching 17 points (4g-13a) in 57 games for Rockford. The defenseman also appeared in one contest with the Walleye, tallying the game-winning goal in overtime on Dec. 27, 2011. The Maple Grove, Minn. native was named Rockford’s Most Improved Player in 2011-12.
Before joining the IceHogs, Youds skated with Minnesota State University-Mankato (NCAA) for four seasons, garnering 67 points (11g-56a) in 145 contests with the Mavericks.
