Article By: Nate HaeniRockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League have recalled forward David Toews from loan to the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.
Toews, 21, appeared in three preseason games with the IceHogs this season, registering two assists before being assigned to Toledo three games into the campaign. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native shows nine points (2g-7a) in 24 contests with the Walleye this season.
In 2010-11, Toews tallied 48 points (20g-28a) in 60 games in the WHL for the Brandon Wheat Kings.
The former third round pick (#66 overall) in 2008 by the New York Islanders spent two seasons with the University of North Dakota from 2008-10, recording nine goals and 17 points in 55 tilts.
