Postseason Week 3 Recap
Home-ice advantage has been key through three games of the West Division Finals as the Rockford IceHogs trail the best-of-seven series 2-1.  Rockford took Game 3 at the MetroCentre after falling in the series’ first two contests at the Allstate Arena.  Game 4 is slated for Wednesday and a Rockford win would force a Game 6 at the MetroCentre on Sunday.

Bacon Bits:
Rockford has 88 shots over its past two games, the second highest shot combination over a two game playoff stretch in franchise history

The IceHogs accumulated 92 shots in back-to-back games last year in Games 3 and 4 against the Fort Wayne Komets

Over Rockford’s last four periods against Chicago, the club has chipped in 65 shots on goal

Winger Petri Kontiola has a six game postseason point streak totaling 3g-3a-6pts

The IceHogs and their opponents have combined to score 21 goals in eight postseason games

In the first and second periods combined, the Hogs and opponents have combined to score 15 goals

Rockford has outscored the opposition 12-9 in the third period, but have been outscored 5-2 in the opening stanza
Winger Derek Nesbitt netted his team-leading second game-winning goal of the playoffs in Game 3 against Chicago

Nesbitt also had the game winner in Game 3 of the West Division Semifinals

Rockford is 4-0 in the postseason when scoring the game’s first goal and just 1-3 when the opponents light the lamp first

Hot Hog Postseason Week 3:
Winger Petri Kontiola continued his postseason point streak with a point in all three games against the Chicago Wolves in the West Division Finals.  Konitola now has a six-game point streak dating back to the West Division Semifinals against Houston. Overall in the postseason, Kontiola has 3g-3a-6pts, ranking third on the IceHogs.

Upcoming Games:
Wednesday, May 7 vs. Chicago Wolves. (Game Four) Game time is 7:05 p.m. The West Division Finals resumes after a two- day hiatus.  Game Four at the Rockford MetroCentre as the IceHogs will try to even the series at 2-2 while the Wolves will look to grab the crucial game before returning home.

Friday, May 9 at Chicago Wolves. (Game Five) The puck drops at 7 p.m. Will Chicago have an opportunity to clinch and move on in the Calder Cup Playoffs?  Or will it be the IceHogs taking control of the West Division Finals?  The series shifts back to the Allstate Arena and the IceHogs will try for its first ever win in Rosemont.

Sunday, May 11 vs. Chicago Wolves. (Game Six, if necessary)  The game starts at 4:05 p.m. If the series gets this far, one team will be facing elimination and the other will try to do the eliminating.  A Game 6 will be necessary if the IceHogs win either Game 4 or 5.
