04/15/2010 10:24 AM - Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Thursday that right wing Ben Smith has signed an amateur try-out agreement with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.
Smith, 21, completed his senior season at Boston College, winning the 2010 National Championship. The former sixth-round pick (#169 overall) by the Blackhawks was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Frozen Four Tournament with four points (3g-1a) in two games.
Smith finished the 2009-10 campaign with 37 points (16g-21a) in 42 games for the Golden Eagles. In four years with Boston College, Smith racked up 122 points (57g-65a) in 165 games.
