Week 25 Recap
The Rockford IceHogs’s offense slowed to a near halt in Week 25 as the squad dropped their only two games. They will get another shot at the Peoria Rivermen on Friday as the team’s season-long, seven-game homestand continues in Week 26. After the Rivermen, the IceHogs welcome in the Chicago Wolves for their annual Jersey Auction game on Saturday.

-Hannu Toivonen (Rockford) and Joe Fallon (Peoria) started against their former teams on Friday
-It was the first time in at least 15 years in the American Hockey League that two goalies started against each other, were traded for each other and then started opposite each other again in the same season
-Rockford lost back-to-back regulation home games for the first time this season
-It was the first losing week for the squad since Dec. 11-13, when Rockford went 1-2-0-0 on the road in Texas
-Defenseman Nick Boynton became the 30th different IceHogs alumnus to play in the NHL when he was recalled by Chicago and made his Blackhawks debut on Wednesday in Anaheim
-Matt Keith had his season-best eight-game point streak come to an end on Saturday against Texas, accumulating 4g-6a-10pts
-The IceHogs have been shut out four times this season, twice by Texas and twice by Hamilton
-The IceHogs finished their home season set with Texas 0-3-1-0
-Rockford is 24-7-0-1 against the rest of the AHL at home this season
-Defenseman Shawn Lalonde made his professional debut on Friday against Peoria
-Rockford has scored two or fewer goals in regulation in five of their last six games
-The IceHogs fell out of the top two in the West Division for the first time since Jan. 16
-Rob Klinkhammer became the 10th IceHogs player to record 10 or more goals this season on Friday
-Rockford had nine players in double digits in 2007-08 and 2008-09
-The IceHogs raised $6,450 for a Huntington’s Disease treatment center in Rockford during Sunday’s Bowl-A-Thon at Cherry Bowl
-The IceHogs Booster Club contributed an additional $1,000 in Jake Dowell’s name
Hot Hog Week 25:
Goaltender Hannu Toivonen gave up two goals on 31 shots in his only start of the week. Toivonen appeared against his former team, the Peoria Rivermen, at the Rockford MetroCentre in Rockford’s 3-1 loss on Friday.
Friday, March 26 vs. Peoria Rivermen: Game time is 7:05 p.m. The two intra-state rivals clash at the MetroCentre for the final time in 2009-10. The first 2,500 fans to pass through the gate will get a Zamboni Bank courtesy of Stanley Steamer, ESPN 1380 and FOX 39.
Saturday, March 27 vs. Chicago Wolves: The Rockford IceHogs will host the Chicago Wolves at the Rockford MetroCentre at 7:05 p.m. It’s the 11th Annual Jersey Auction game. The IceHogs will be honoring the Phantom Regiment with their special Drum & Bugle Hammy jerseys, which will be auctioned at the end of the game. Additionally, there will be a silent auction table in the upper concourse and the first 2,500 fans into the building will pick up a Jersey Auction t-shirt courtesy of Pepsi, Dental Dimensions, Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Phantom Regiment, WXRX and WREX.

Bud Light Hog Talk at Hooters near State and Perryville in Rockford resumes tonight. Fans can join WXRX’s Jim Stone from 6-7 p.m. most Mondays. Tonight he will be speaking with defenseman David Phillips, forward Jack Skille and head coach Bill Peters. Stop by and take advantage of some great food and Bud Light specials.
