CATCH ANOTHER BACON BITS THIS SATURDAY

By: Mike Peck
02/26/2010 10:00 AM - Rockford, Ill.- Bacon Bits, the popular 30-minute TV show on FOX-39 featuring the Rockford IceHogs is back this Saturday at 2:30 p.m.  The bi-monthly show is hosted by WTVO Sports Director Scott Leber and WTVO Weekend Sports Anchor Adam Warner.

This week’s show will preview the IceHogs popular Jersey Auction Night that benefits the IceHogs Charitable Foundation. This year’s theme is Drum and Bugle Hammy and is in collaboration with the Phantom Regiment.

Leber and Warner will have a feature on IceHogs veteran defenseman Jassen Cullimore.  Cullimore was recently signed by the Chicago Blackhawks after spending the majority of this season skating on a professional try-out agreement with Rockford. The d-man will also chat about his experience winning the Stanley Cup as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2004.

The IceHogs’ Hockey Operations department added Dave Cencer as video coach this season and Bacon Bits will take an inside look at how Cencer helps the IceHogs coaching staff and players behind the scenes with modern technology.

Bacon Bits’ static features are back, including an interview with IceHogs Head Coach Bill Peters and another “Xs” and “Os” segment with Assistant Coach Ted Dent.  The show will also recap the past two weeks on the ice with highlights.

Next Home Game: Saturday, Feb. 27 vs. Peoria Rivermen: Game time is 7:05 p.m. It’s Blackhawks Night presented by Taco Bell at the MetroCentre as fans will have an opportunity to meet Blackhawks assistant coach Mike Haviland along with forwards Kris Versteeg, Troy Brouwer, Colin Fraser, defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson and goalie Antti Niemi. The IceHogs will be hosting a silent auction and also giving away five game worn IceHogs jerseys throughout the game.
