- Rockford sits in second in AHL’s closest division
Week 18 Recap
Two wins in three games was enough to keep pace for the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL’s West Division. After getting shutout by the Hamilton Bulldogs on Wednesday, Rockford rebounded with wins against Peoria and Grand Rapids. Week 19 features three more games for Rockford, including Wednesday’s rematch with Grand Rapids and a pair in Lake Erie against the Monsters this weekend.

Wednesday, Jan. 27: Hamilton Bulldogs 5 vs. Rockford IceHogs 0
Friday, Jan. 29: Peoria Rivermen 2 vs. Rockford IceHogs 4

Week 19 Schedule

- Akim Aliu converted Rockford’s first penalty shot goal of the season on Saturday in Grand Rapids and the first since Troy Brouwer’s penalty shot marker on Dec. 14, 2007 against Rochester
-Rockford went 4-0-0-0 against Grand Rapids this season at Van Andel Arena
-All four games were decided by one goal
-The IceHogs are 7-2-0-0 on the road against the AHL’s North Division this season
-The IceHogs are 4-10-0-2 on the road against the AHL’s West Division this season
-Rockford is 14-4-0-1 in games following a regulation loss in 2009-10
-Rockford is riding a season best five-game road point streak (4-0-0-1) dating back to Jan. 10
-The IceHogs went 9-3-0-2 in January, making it the second January in a row that Rockford won nine games
-Rockford went 9-5-0-2 in January of 2009
-The nine wins in a month also match an IceHogs AHL record for most wins in a month as the team accomplished the feat in December 2008 as well
-Rockford averaged 4,424 fans in eight January home dates, the team’s best January in 11 seasons at the gate
-Defenseman Richard Petiot has points in seven of his last nine games totaling 1g-7a
-Petiot has set a career high this season with 19 assists and 21 points
Hot Hog Week 18:

IceHogs forward Jack Skille had two points in three games for the IceHogs during Week 18, helping them to a 2-1-0-0 record. After Rockford was blanked on Wednesday against Hamilton, Skille bounced back with a goal and an assist in Rockford’s 4-2 win over Peoria on Friday. The third-year winger accumulated 12 shots on goal during Week 18 and currently ranks fourth in the league with 159 shots on goal.
Friday, Feb. 3 vs. Grand Rapids Griffins: The game starts at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans 21-and over will receive an IceHogs glass mug courtesy of Bud Light. All high school and college students with a valid student ID can purchase the best available seat for just $10 at the MetroCentre's Box Office up to one hour prior to the game with the WXRX Student Rush program.
Friday, Feb. 5 at Lake Erie Monsters: Game time is 6:30 p.m. Rockford travels to Cleveland to open a two-game set with the Lake Erie Monsters at the Quicken Loans Arena. The game is the second of three on the year in Lake Erie and third of six between the two clubs overall.
Saturday, Feb. 6 at Lake Erie Monsters: The matinee begins at noon. Rockford and Lake Erie conlcude a two game series at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. The game is Rockford’s final one in Lake Erie in 2009-10.

No Bud Light Hog Talk Tonight:
Bud Light Hog Talk at Counsin’s Bar and Grill tonight has been cancelled as the IceHogs look for a new location to host the show. When the show resumes, fans can join WXRX’s Jim Stone most Mondays from 6-7 p.m. as he chats with IceHogs coaches, players and front office staff. Stop by and take advantage of some great food and Bud Light specials. If you can’t make it, tune into 1330 AM, WNTA.
