Boys 6-15 years old will be eligible to win the day with the IceHogs defenseman. The annual silent auction will be held on the upper concourse at the Rockford MetroCentre throughout the evening.
For the “Day with Jimmy Sharrow” event, Jimmy will pick up the boy, accompanied by a parent or guardian, at his house on the morning of Thursday, April 9 and take him to the Rockford MetroCentre for the Rockford IceHogs practice. After practice, the winning bidder will get a tour of the locker room and meet the team. The two will then go to lunch in Rockford at a location of the boy’s choice with Jimmy and spend a couple of hours in the Coco Keys Water Resort arcade.
In Saturday’s annual Jersey Auction game, the IceHogs will wear special “Dark Hammy” jerseys. After the game, the players’ game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off of their backs to benefit the IceHogs Charitable Foundation and its beneficiaries including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Boys and Girls Clubs, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Rock River Valley and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
At Sharrow’s request, any money raised on this item will go to Susan G. Komen For The Cure, an organization focused on fighting breast cancer.
Other items in the silent auction include an autographed Chicago White Sox Jim Thome photo, Manitoba Moose, Iowa Chops, Manchester Monarchs and Peoria Rivermen team-signed jerseys, a team-signed stick from the Toronto Marlies, team-signed yearbooks from the Portland Pirates and Hartford Wolf Pack as well as a pair of Chicago Cubs tickets and several other items.
The silent auction will begin when doors open at 5 p.m. and end at the start of the third period. Winners will be announced over the public address system inside the arena and are encouraged to pick up their items by the end of the game. All money raised from the rest of the items will benefit the IceHogs Charitable Foundation and its beneficiaries.
