The camp roster of 50 invitees will be highlighted by 2008 NHL Entry Draft selections Kyle Beach (11th overall) and Shawn Lalonde (68th overall); 2007 Draft picks Bill Sweatt (38th overall) and Akim Aliu (56th overall); 2006 Draft choice Igor Makarov (33rd overall); 2005 Draft picks Dan Bertram (54th overall) and Nathan Davis (113th overall); and Finnish goalie prospect Antti Niemi. NEW YORK/TORONTO (June 26, 2008) – The National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players’ Association announced today that the Team Payroll Range established for the 2008-09 League Year, pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, provides for a Lower Limit of $40.7 million, an Adjusted Midpoint of $48.7 million and an Upper Limit of $56.7 million.

Rockford, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks used five of their seven picks in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft to bolster their defensive corps.
The Hawks started with Left Wing Kyle Beach (Everett, WHL | draft profile) as the 11th pick in the draft. Beach recorded 27 goals, 60 points and 222 penalty minutes in 60 games with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League in 2007-08. Those totals earned the 18-year-old the No. 7 rating among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting's final rankings.

The draft will feature 211 picks over seven rounds this weekend. The broadcast on the Versus network begins with a preview show at 6 p.m. Friday. The draft begins an hour later with the first pick going to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
