Comcast SportsNet, the television home for the most games and most comprehensive coverage of the NHL Western Conference/Central Division first place Chicago Blackhawks, delivered its highest Blackhawks regular season rating ever last night (Thu, January 7) -- a 3.43 household rating for its live coverage of the Blackhawks “Original Six” road battle against the Boston Bruins.

For last night’s fifth-straight victory by the Blackhawks (14-3 record in their last 17 contests), Comcast SportsNet attracted approx. 120,084 households for the entire game and posted a 4.25 peak rating during the 7:15 PM quarter-hour (148,793 households). The 3.43 single game regular season ratings record on Comcast SportsNet shatters the previous record set two weeks ago on December 23, 2009 at Detroit (3.27). Source for all ratings information is provided by Nielsen Media Research overnights.

Comcast SportsNet was also the #1-highest rated television network in the Chicago market last night in the male demos of Men 18-49 & Men 25-54 during the game time period of 6:00-7:15 PM. Comcast SportsNet was also #2 overall in the market in the key advertiser demo of Adults 25-54 from 7:00-8:30 PM.

So far this season, the Blackhawks on Comcast SportsNet are currently averaging a 2.09 household rating, a year-to-date increase of 99% compared to last season through 27 telecasts. In addition, Chevy Blackhawks Pre-Game Live ratings are up 146% year-to-date, while Smirnoff Vodka Blackhawks Post Game Live ratings have increased 192%. Comcast SportsNet’s next Blackhawks telecast airs tomorrow night (Sat, January 9) as the Blackhawks visit the Minnesota Wild (pre-game coverage gets underway on SportsNite at 6:30 PM, face-off at 7:00 PM). Viewers can also visit for the very latest Blackhawks news, highlights, game previews/recaps & blogs from Blackhawks “Insider” Brett Ballantini, along with exclusive videos and much more.
