The IceHogs came from the losing side of a 2-0 score to bury the Admirals 3-2 in a shootout at the Bradley Center. Corey Crawford saved 36 shots for his first shootout win since Dec. 7 against Lake Erie.
Danny Richmond, in his first shootout attempt, and Troy Brouwer snuck the puck past Pekka Rinne in the shootout to put the IceHogs ahead.
To tie the game at two, Derek Nesbitt put in his fourth goal since being signed with the IceHogs late in December with assists from Martin St. Pierre and Richmond with 55 seconds left in the game. The Hogs had pulled netminder Corey Crawford to make is a 6-on-5 game and Nesbitt picked up the loose puck and flipped it past Rinne.
For the first goal, a little shift in the lines worked as Brouwer punched in his team-leading 18th goal of the season to cut the Admirals lead in half. The goal came at 11:26 with assists from Petri Kontiola -- who took the place of Nesbitt on the wing -- and St. Pierre.
St. Pierre, who leads the team in assists and points, has had a helper in all five of the Hogs' goals this weekend.
In the second period, John Laliberte ripped in a perfect set up from Rich Peverley at 16:09 to take a 2-0 lead for the Admirals.
In the first, Antti Pihlstrom deflected Alex Sulzer's blue-line shot past Crawford while shorthanded at 4:03 in the first period to put the Admirals up 1-0. Peverley was also credited with an assist.
Both goalies had 36 saves on 38 shots.Next Home Game:
