Chicago, Ill. - The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have agreed to terms with goaltender Scott Darling and forwards Cody Bass and Pierre-Cedric Labrie on one-year contracts.
Darling, a Lemont, Ill., native, earned a 13-6-2 record with six shutouts, a 2.00 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage in 26 games last season with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League, ranking second in the league in shutouts. He was named the AHL’s Goaltender of the Month for December after finishing the month with a 6-1-0 record, two shutouts, a 1.12 GAA and a .964 save percentage. Darling also appeared in six games with the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones, posting a 4-1-1 record with a 2.61 GAA and a .916 save percentage. The 25-year-old has appeared in 27 career AHL games with Milwaukee and Hamilton and 39 career ECHL games with Cincinnati, Wheeling and Florida. Darling was selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the sixth round, 153rd overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Bass, 27, tallied 18 points (8g, 10a) and 132 penalty minutes in 58 AHL games with Springfield last season, earning a season-high three points (2g, 1a) on March 8 at Adirondack. He also skated in four postseason games. Bass appeared in one NHL game with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Jan. 25 vs. BUF. The Owen Sound, Ontario, native has appeared in 49 career NHL games with Ottawa and Columbus, posting five points (2g, 3a) in those contests. He has earned 75 points (31g, 44a) and 545 penalty minutes in 270 career AHL games with Binghamton and Springfield. Bass has collected eight points (4g, 4a) in 30 career AHL postseason contests; he helped lead Binghamton to their 2011 Calder Cup championship, tallying four points (2g, 2a) in 18 games. Bass was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the fourth round, 95th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Labrie, 27, registered six points (2g, 4a) and 112 penalty minutes in 38 regular-season games with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch this past season. He also skated in 13 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, recording 20 penalty minutes in those contests. The Baie-Comeau, Quebec, native has posted five points (2g, 3a) and 65 penalty minutes in 46 regular-season career NHL games with Tampa Bay. Labrie has 125 points (52g, 73a) and 722 penalty minutes in 388 career AHL regular-season contests with Syracuse, Norfolk, Peoria and Manitoba. He also added 11 points (5g, 6a) in 41 career AHL postseason games with Norfolk and Manitoba, including nine points (5g, 4a) in 18 contests during Norfolk’s 2012 Calder Cup-winning playoff run.
