Away Game Notes 12/30/08

12/30/2008 10:19 AM - Chris Etheridge

That’s A Lot of Goals: The Hogs have given up six goals in back-to-back games against the Iowa Chops.  Before the recent defense collapse, the Hogs had only allowed four goals in three games to the Chops.  The 12 goals in back-to-back games is the most given up by the IceHogs this season.

Fight for .500:  The Rockford IceHogs need to win their next two games to be above .500 in Dec. 2008.  The Hogs (4-6-0-1 in Dec.) play the Flames in their next two games, the final two nights of the month.  December is the only month in which Rockford has an all-time record below .500 as the Hogs are 59-64-1-12 entering play tonight, but were 9-1-1-3 in Dec. 2007.

Brent’s A Big Helper: Rockford center Tim Brent has assisted on a goal in an IceHogs season-high five straight games dating back to Dec. 20 against the Houston Aeros.  During his streak, Brent has chipped in five helpers, adding three goals as well. The streak is one game shy of Petri Kontiola’s and Martin St. Pierre’s IceHogs AHL team record of six set last season.

First Period Blues: Rockford has given up 23 first period goals this season, but five over their past two games, 21.7 percent of the markers given up all season in the opening frame.   The first period is still the best for goal differential for Rockford this season as they are outscoring their opponents 34-23.
